Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix read by Stephen Fry

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix read by Stephen Fry

So of all the voices out there in the celebrity ether, who’s do we most want to read out our favourite book? I did an office poll and came up with our top ten most appealing voices to charm our ears with the unforgettable words of our beloved books!

  1. Liam Neeson- Yes he may be gracing our screens at the moment in Taken 2 as the everybody wants to have Dad and Ex- Husband, however how about a relaxing ride in a rowing boat in the county while he reads to you? Ahhhh!
  2. David Attenborough- We all know and love his voice on his documentaries; however I am sure that no one would turn down a good old fashioned bed time story read by him. His voice can soothe even the most stressed adult into a night’s slumber, as well as increasing our knowledge of wildlife, of course.
  3. Pierce Brosnan- We have not forgotten about this Irish ex Bond. Despite his various roles and time in Hollywood he has never lost the routes to his voice. We can’t deny that his lilting voice is both sexy and soothing at the same time.
  4. Matthew Macfayden- He is getting us all to gorge on M and S dinners for 2 currently, (which frankly I would buy if it was Asda Smart Price if he was reading out the menu), but to hear him tell one of the classics such as the film he starred in, Pride and Prejudice, would be the ultimate romantic gesture for us slightly overweight ladies (from all the M and S puddings) looking for love.
  5. Gary Oldman- Maybe not as his alias, Count Dracula, as this may scare more than soothe, but he is officially the only man who can, with a moustache, still draw you in with his sultry tones.
  6. Ian McKellen- Reading out Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit would be too obvious a pleasure, but his gentlemanly pronunciation of every word and exaggeration of the letter ‘s’ makes him a clear winner.
  7. Stephen Fry- Having already encountered this, we all know and love the Fry for his previous effort with audiobooks, simply listening to him, you can feel the knowledge oozing through the headphones, making your IQ go up 10 points.
  8. Maggie Smith- Quintessentially English, boasted in her recent character of the grandmother in Downton Abbey. If I were looking for a grandmother to adopt and read me a bedtime story it would be her!
  9. Julie Walters- Known for her comedy roles, you could probably hear her smiling through the headphones. A down to earth voice that we can all relate to and feel right at home with.
  10. Dawn French- She is simply delicious in the Tesco adverts, however it would be lovely to hear her through my headphones once in a while, whilst eating a Terry’s Chocolate Orange of course. Ah the perfect combination!
