Whenever I borrow heaven,
I see you angel,
Please don’t hide away from me,
I suffer through long nights,
Whenever you say goodbye.
There is always time enough for tears,
While I am enslaved in this humdrum.
I have forgiven yet not forgotten you,
Heaven knows,
When you were along with those girls,
That someday,
You might runaway with your heart,
When it was the right time.
You always tossed the feathers,
In your secret life,
When your body came closer to mine,
I cried ‘leave me alone!’
You always left me breathless,
Yet forever gave me a reason,
You would say,
There is somebody for someone,
That you would give me all the love in the world,
Lonely nights listening to the radio with only my thoughts,
Made you irresistible to me,
One night,
I craved too much to be at your side,
All in a day,
I had to tell myself no more cry,
As the rain fell,
I realised I would have to give it all up,
For I had been hurt before,
And you had time to tame your rebel heart.
I knew they would talk on corners,
I escape only when I sleep,
They talk of when he’s not around,
In my dreams,
I would ask what can I do?
I uttered over ‘I never loved you anyway’,
For how could I when I was so young.
Don’t say you love me,
Because love gives and love takes,
You take and yet still I’m hopelessly addicted,
Intimacy you can never give,
There are no frontiers despite of those you tell,
Because of you everybody hurts,
Would you be happier without the risk of being broken?
As only love can break your heart,
The only joy to life for me,
Is love in the Milky Way,
And haste to the wedding day,
Yet here I live in this old town,
An old hag,
Black is the colour of me now,
My heart is like a wheel stopping,
In the dimming of the day.
This poem was an assignment set by one of my creative writing teachers. We had to make a poem from words found elsewhere. Mine was constructed from all of the Corrs' song titles. Thanks for your music- its always keeps me calm.
