1. Many people ask if Kim Stone is modelled on anyone in particular and I will admit that some aspects of her personality come from my days as a Security Manager at a shopping centre. Managing a team of 70+ diverse individuals brings out a certain directness although I do like to think I have slightly better social skills.

2. When I was little (other than being a writer) I dreamt of being a school secretary. I was always amazed at how this position was the hub of all activity. Everyone went to the school secretary including teachers, kids, parents and as I am nosey I felt it was the ideal position to be in to find out everything that was going on.

3. I am addicted to notebooks. I love them. All kinds of shapes and sizes. I love the pretty ones and the plain ones and a trip into Paperchase brings my bank manager to tears.

4. There are scenes in my own books that have brought me to tears. I struggle to write particularly emotional scenes without the occasional eye malfunction. Occasionally I need to step away for a breather and resume later.

5. On my old Twitter account I was followed by Karin Slaughter (one of my absolute favourite authors). I guessed it was a mistake but I took a screen shot anyway.

6. I rode a moped until I was almost forty and didn't learn to drive due to a pathological fear of gears. I eventually learned in an automatic car and passed first time.

7. A few years ago I was struck with Bells Palsy. It is a temporary condition whereby the facial nerves are destroyed giving an almost stroke like appearance. It is unfortunate that the hardest letters to form with this condition are B and P making it incredibly difficult to explain to someone what is wrong.

8. I am a very boring drunk. I find that after a couple of drinks I have a ten minute window of being mildly entertaining before folding into a sleepy heap.

9. Subjects that I'm passionate about always seem to find a way into my books. I don't like to sensationalise subjects or preach but I do like to raise subjects for discussion such as bullying and disability awareness.

10. After writing about Kim Stone for 5 books (including my current WIP) I find that many situations I now face I tend to ask myself 'what would Kim do?' Luckily for me I don't always follow the advice that comes to mind.
