I don't know where to begin with my story. I guess you can see that I'm your classic New Yorker who's obsessed with her city. My city is what inspired me to create stories and worlds in my mind. I never imagined myself becoming a writer, I never thought it was possible for someone like me to really become one. Sex With Cocktails is a book series influenced by everything that makes this city breathe life into me along with the fashion that came with it. Fashion was my first love and it was the first thing to really help me channel my creative prowess. I can remember attending my first real fashion show and I was in love with it, the designs, the models, the direction, everything. My inspirations were Givenchy, Dior and Vivienne Tam. I loved studying the creative direction and think about the things I would do if I were in their position. My creativity was always my greatest strength. Fashion is what brought that out of me and it grew into something more.

Confessions of a Frisky Fashion Writer

Confessions of a Frisky Fashion Writer

"Confessions" is about a woman named Virginia who has a lot of similarities to myself but is also different from me in a lot of ways. I don't want people to see Virginia and see me, I just want them to see a woman that can be them whether it comes to her career aspirations or her own views on her sexuality. She's a black woman who loves New York, loves fashion but is also a normal woman still trying to find herself. When writing the story, I was inspired by my own friend circle and others I met in the industry during my time working for these different brands and companies, learning about what makes this industry move.

I faced a lot of challenges in writing the story. I remember being told that I could never write a story centered on a black woman. Supposedly that was something that could never sell but I fought against that. In the climate we're in now, I think it's important to have different narratives because they give us to glimpse into someone else's life and experiences. The job of a storyteller is not just to tell a good story but also to do it justice and honor the characters in it.

If there's one word to describe The Vixen is her sexual confidence. It represents the confidence I have in myself not only as a sexual being but power in my femininity as a woman. She's not afraid to get a little dirty. I think every woman can benefit from having a little bit of that fire in them.
