The first role model in every woman's life is a Disney princess.

I truly believe this is ingrained in each of us as a young girl, at an age where imagination holds no limits or barriers, and this carries through even in our adult life, with each unique Disney story leaving us with a real belief in true beauty and love.

What you might not realise, though, is that we can all learn valuable beauty lessons from Disney princesses. They may all be gorgeous on the outside, but the moral is that they unleash their inner beauty from within. They exude sophistication and grace, with a dash a sparkle! It is this quality which takes them to great things and, funny thing… they all get a kiss from a handsome prince! Dare to dream.

Having worked in the beauty industry for nearly 15 years I have come to learn one essential truth: everyone can be beautiful by being the best person you can be. You don't need someone else to be beautiful; beauty comes from within and depends on how you feel about yourself. If you make yourself beautiful inside and out then your confidence grows and you feel more positive about your life.

The problem today is that many people are too negative about themselves and are too quick to find fault. As a single mum who went through a painful divorce, I know this feeling only too well. It was only after I started making a concerted effort to make 'me-time' that I was able to reverse this harmful mindset.

Taking the time to be kind to yourself, not only in your attitude but by drinking and eating well, exercising and meditating can make you into more positive, confident and happy person. Follow the simple yet powerful life lessons of the Disney princesses and you’ll be well on your way.

SNOW WHITE

“Who’s the fairest of them all?” Flawless Snow White faced jealousy from the Wicked Queen, who was dependent on the opinion of her magic mirror. What the Queen didn’t understand was that beauty is everywhere, so be kind – both to others and yourself. We are all guilty at one time or another, but looking at others in awe and envy can only cause negative beliefs. So instead of trying to compare with others, instead recognize and brighten your own beauty. You do not need confirmation from anyone else to tell you that you are beautiful; it should come from your own belief.

QUEEN ELSA

Here’s is a heroin in her own right, shaking up the tradition that men are the heroes. Queen Elsa empowers women to be strong and brave, to accept challenges and, even in sadness and pain, to live by her message and simply “let it go”! This is a classic example of a good girl with dramatic before and after shots. From a timid, shy and isolated life, she transforms into a gorgeous goddess using her style. She stops being ashamed and becomes comfortable with who she is, without any fear of judgement.

CINDERELLA

Cinders might have to deal with hardships but yet she still exudes simple beauty with her love and generous acts of kindness to all. Even through pain and humiliation, she maintains her authentic character and it truly radiates.

But every girl must have at least the occasional ball to dress up for, to go out and paint the town red. There is so much joy in getting the perfect outfit and making it unique to your shape and character. The hair and make-up done, leaving you feeling gorgeous, and finishing off with the perfect pair of shoes! Getting ready is always the best part: it makes you feel complete. So enjoy your nights out, especially getting yourself ready, as you deserve it!

SLEEPING BEAUTY

She may take things a bit far, but my number one beauty secret is to get plenty of sleep. It’s not the quantity; it’s all about good quality sleep. Modern life is always so hectic, not helped by our digital addictions, and sleep is often the first casualty. But the impact a lack of sleep has on the way we look and feel can’t be underestimated. It’s the body’s way of healing and replenishing itself so make sure you get the right amount – at least seven hours a night.
