When I first began working on The Claiming, I knew exactly what I expected from my characters, Francesca & Robbie. I wanted to push them past their boundaries, creating a complex yet intimate tale of submission and blossoming love. The whole idea of them living in a private world controlled by a secret society, added a flair of mischief to their union.

At first, I was worried about writing such a sordid and racy tale. My readers have been used to my more tame side of storytelling, focusing on the paranormal romantic side of things. But a friend suggested that I give my idea a chance and see how it developed. I was glad that I took her advice, because once I began writing The Claiming, it was like a whirlwind love affair. It's bold, edgy and classy. My readers will embark on a journey that will have them experience the dark, sensual world of a society that breeds their daughters for male suitors. I explore sexuality and desire in a way I've not done before, and it's beautiful in all its refined glory.

After one whole weekend, writing non-stop, I had the first episode of Dark Desires series complete. As I spent that first week digesting what I had created, I have to admit I felt a tad guilty for stepping away from my usual genre. Yet, I felt renewed as a writer, and I think that is one of the most important things for an author, at any stage in their career to feel. To be comfortable with what you have created and love the process. No matter what I write, I always try to make sure that I am writing the kind of story that I would love to read. Because at the end of the day, if you, the author, don't believe in the words on the page, how will a reader? That's a challenge in itself, and one that needs thinking about every time you open a new page.

The Claiming taught me a lot about the kind of author I am becoming. I am even more aware of sensory details, every little facet counts, especially in erotic fiction. Touch, taste, and hearing have never been more important. Those features make the story bounce from the page and into the mind of the reader-an accomplishment in itself.

I like the idea of branching out, doing something completely different, to satiate my own appetite as an author. I've always believed in staying true to myself when it comes to my creativity. But often, it can be hard to express that need to an audience who have become accustomed to a certain brand. Nevertheless, because of my incessant obsession with pushing past boundaries, I feel liberated, not only as an author, but also, as a woman. For too long, women have been hiding behind pseudonyms in fear of judgment based on their choice of erotic fiction. However, I am also aware that sometimes that is a personal choice, but for me, I gladly herald my small victory in creating something unique, something that will entice the minds of my readers.
