What can readers expect from your new book Greg Said?

Readers can expect to have a little glimpse into my less than ordinary life. They will be able to see what it was like living with a psychic gift from a very young age and they can get to know all about my spirit guide, Greg who has been with me from the age of two. My book follows me through my ups and downs of my life, with laughter and a few tears along the way.

What made you want to share your experiences with others?

I’ve had a very colourful life, full of highs and lows. People have always asked me about my life and how it all began. People always seem intrigued by my stories and so many clients have said ‘’you should write a book’’. So here we go.

When did you first realise you had a spirit guide and what is he like?

I tell the reader all about this in my book. I first met Greg, my spirit guide, when I was at primary school. He brought through a classmate’s grandfather who had just died. And since that day he has been by my side causing mischief. He is a young boy from the 1920’s era, cheeky and charming and I couldn’t imagine my life without him.

Why do you think you have been blessed with the gift of seeing those who have passed over? Can others have it without realising?

I’ve always believed I’ve been given my gift for a reason and that one reason is to try and bring comfort to those that have lost someone they love. I honestly believe that everyone has got some kind of gift, some see, some hear, some feel, and others can dream of their departed loved ones. But often everyday life can drown out the connection and people tend to switch it off without thinking about it.

Please tell us about your first encounter with a ghost.

I tell the reader all about this in my book. I don’t like to call a spirit a ‘ghost’. I don’t see them how people imagine them to be. I don’t have Casper’s following me all over.

My first ever experience of feeling energy was just after my great grandmother had passed away. She came to tell me that she had ‘gone’ to heaven. She was sat on the end of my little bed, as clear as day. The next morning my father told me that my great grandmother had indeed passed away. I knew before anyone else. Shortly after this encounter they started to get more and more frequent.

At what point in your life did you decide that mediumship would be your path?

I think deep down I’ve always known I would end up working in this field. After working in the travel industry for years whilst also doing readings on an evening/weekend for friends and family, it quickly became apparent that I had to branch out and do it full time. After battling with a chronic illness for a few years I decided that the spiritual path was the one for me. I’ve never looked back since.

What is the most common spirit encounter you have while you’re going about your daily business?

My house is constantly full of spirit. They line up like a they are queuing for a bus some days!! My toilet often flushes by itself and my kettle is always clicking on! They certainly like to make themselves feel at home and that’s absolutely fine by me.

Do the spirits ever frighten you and if so how do you deal with this when it happens?

To be honest, I don’t believe in negative energies, spirits can’t harm us, it is the living that do that! Obviously when I was younger and opening up to the spirit world, I found it very difficult to understand why I could see these things and no one else could but I don’t feel I have ever been frightened by them, more frustrated with them. On a weekly basis I sage my home from top to bottom, this lifts any ‘mischievous spirits’ that perhaps shouldn’t be there and I feel it clears any lingering energies from the previous week. I also love having an Epsom salt bath, this grounds me. My home is full of crystals, positive affirmations and candles. I believe that if my space is pure and light then that’s what I will attract.

For anyone who is sceptical about the afterlife- what would your advice be?

My advice would be to please remain open minded and come and see me.

What is next for you?

I want to continue to reach out to as many people as I can, trying to bring comfort and solace to those that are grieving or going through a difficult time. I’d also really like to write a children’s book about Greg and his little mischievous adventures. I’ve also just been asked by Take A Breaks Fate & Fortune magazine to be a monthly columnist! I’m very excited about it all.

Greg Said by Keely Potts is out now.
