I'm from Preston…but I love Burnley FC
I always claim to be from Burnley in Lancashire, although I was actually born in Preston and I am a supporter of Burnley Football Club, who are a founder member of the Football League.
My bolt-hole
I need a bit of quiet solitude when I'm writing my books which helps me focus and am fortunate to have a small place in Cyprus at the Aphrodite Hills that I can retreat to. The sunshine and the blue Mediterranean is a welcome and inspirational backdrop.
The best present ever?
My eldest daughter recently bought us a twelve months free pass of the Royal Academy in Piccadilly as a thank-you for helping her move house. I have visited the Abstract Expressionism exhibition four times so far and more visits are planned.
In the zone
I play pretty good tennis and golf, primarily because I practice what I preach and use self-hypnosis and NLP to gain an unfair advantage over those who are brave enough to take me on!
Amore Italia…
I think I should have been born in the southern Mediterranean and specifically in Sicily because of the way of life, the architecture, the food, the climate, the sea - pretty much everything really. You can't have a bad time if you are in Italy.
Reading for fun?
I'm much more a "non-fiction" reader than fiction, and my idea of reading for fun and enjoyment is to absorb myself in a book on quantum mechanics or neuroscience (yes, honestly…)
I emigrated to Australia for £10
My mum and dad took me and my sister to Australia when we were kids as part of the Aussie governments scheme to attract English families. A by-product of this is that I have circumnavigated the globe by sea having passed through both the Suez and Panama Canals.
Hypnosis anyone?
I am about to complete a Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis as I will use hypnosis to help people access their true self that lies within. Look at my eyes, look at my eyes…
Sinatra anyone?
I have a singing group called Rennie and the Rennettes, that consists of myself and three gorgeous ladies. We are capable of murdering anything from Sinatra through to Joe Cocker.
