Sharing Nicely started life as a short story and ended up being a novel. I loved the characters so much I didn’t want to stop writing about them! Kerry is a feisty business woman who meets to hot and sexy Billionaires and they both want her. She convinces them to share her nicely for one night only and then Greg and Darren do their best to win her over.  Will she pick dominant, serious Greg or cheeky, light-hearted Darren? Well of course I’m not going to tell you that, you’ll have to read the book to find out!

You are the editor of Bigger Beliefs collections and co-editor of Smut Alfreso and Smut in the city, so please can you tell us about these experiences.

You know, I find it very amusing that I have become an editor.  I hate editing and proofing. I’m fairly useless with grammar, if I manage to write something grammatically correct and punctuate it correctly it’s probably an accident.  However, My Smut co-editor Lucy Felthouse is very good at picking up those kind of errors so she saves my skin, a lot.

I enjoy reading stories, picking the ones that complement each other and putting them together to make a super-sexy anthology. I really love creating a pick and mix of authors and styles that I know will delight readers. It is very satisfying seeing an anthology I’ve put together hit the online shelves. I like giving new authors their first publishing experience and find it humbling when authors I have a lot of respect for submit stories to me for my anthologies. It’s a delight. I love doing it, hence we’ve got several calls for submissions up at the moment!

How do you show your northern England quirkiness in each of your stories?

Well, I make sure I get a flat cap and a whippet in every one.  No, no, only kidding. I’ve not written a flat cap or a whippet into a story…yet. My characters often love to use terms of affection like love or darling, or honey.  This is something you hear a lot up north and I know some people don’t like it but I do, mate.  I get humour into everything. We’re funny up north, you know. I mean, have you experienced Manchester weather? If you live with so much rain you’ve got to have a good sense of humour.

Why is it important to you to fill you books with passion, love and laughter?

This is essentially an easy one to answer. It’s important because my life is filled with those things and I want to pass that on to the reader. I am a happily ever after kind of girl. I’m a hopeless romantic, an un-erring optimist and as mentioned above, I live in Manchester so I’ve got a great sense of humour.  A little bit of me gets pulled in to everything I write and I hope that people read my stories and feel refreshed and happy at the end. There’s room for horror and edginess in erotica of course but I choose to play at the light-hearted end of things because that is where I’m happiest.

When did you passion for cooking and writing begin?

I have loved doing both for as long as I can remember. My sister and I decided to make my Nanna some coconut ice for her birthday. I was about 12 at the time, my sister a little younger. I can still remember the state of the kitchen when we finished. There was pink, sticky coconut on the kettle, the countertops and the taps. But Nanna loved her present, it tasted delicious.

I really love baking treats for people and hearing them make yummy noises as they chew. If they smile, I am instantly satisfied.

And from an early age I loved to read and also to make up my own stories. I lived in my own make believe world as a kid and as soon as I could write I put those stories and ideas down on paper as poems and stories.  I’ve never been able to spell but it didn’t hold me back. I loved bringing stories and worlds to life on paper.

Why is the mix of sex and money so appealing?

What a very good question. I had to really think about this when I saw a call for submissions that required a lead character to be a Billionaire.  What I found infinitely freeing was that money really was no object. Greg could fly Kerry to Paris for a brief overnight stay because he had a private jet and the means to book an expensive hotel at the drop of a hat.  The money itself is not the attraction; it’s what can be done with it that’s so appealing and the power that gives a person.  We all know power play is sexy and sex is often about power play so money and sex go together perfectly.

Where did you inspiration come from for the story?

I saw a call for submissions from Total-e-Bound that got me thinking. As it is, the story ran waaaaayyy over the word count for that call but the story had me gripped. I can’t say Sharing Nicely has a grounding in real life. I didn’t look out of the bus window and see the story idea before me. This one really came from deep in my imagination. I really wanted to write about a curvy, confident woman who was independently wealthy. I loved playing with that and making her stubborn. It was fun challenging Greg and Darren to show their affection in other ways than just buying her things. Kerry wasn’t impressed by their bank balances, she wanted more.

I did get to indulge myself in a personal fantasy. Greg takes Kerry to Venice on a romantic getaway and they dress up and attend a masquerade ball. I’ve always wanted to do that myself so writing those scenes was like taking a holiday without leaving my own home.

Who are your favourite reads?

I am a dedicate fantasy Fan. I love Terry Pratchett, David Gemmell and Piers Anthony. I will pick up and give a read to anything that catches my imagination though and clearly I read a lot within the erotic genre. I love Justine Elyot’s style and I’m very jealous of Sommer Marden’s great way with words.

What is next for you?

Lots and lots of things! At the end of October I’m off to Erotica to promote Smut. If you’re going to be there pop over and see Lucy Felthouse and me at the Smut by the Dock stand and check out my light hearted brand of erotica first hand.

I’m in the midst of writing several short stories for various collections, I’m in the middle of my first co-written novel too with my partner in crime and fellow Northern Bird Lucy Felthouse.  I then have a novel to write. There’s no rest for me at all I’m afraid.

Busy is my middle name!
