The 'Skyfall' hitmaker was so upset by the demise of the couple's two-year marriage that she dedicated her show at New York's Madison Square Garden to the pair.

Taking to the stage hours after it emerged the 'Maleficent' star had pulled the plug on the pair's 12-year romance, she said:

"Brangelina have broken up. I mean, I don't like gossiping and I think private lives should be private but I feel like it's the end of an era.

"I'm dedicating this show tonight to them because honestly, I'm really really sad. Genuinely!"

And Adele - who has three-year-old son Angelo with partner Simon Konecki - admitted the shock news had been "playing on her mind", even though she had never met the former couple.

She added to her audience at the sell-out venue: "I don't know them at all, but I was shocked when I woke up this morning, no word of a lie. I'm glad I spoke about that because it was playing on my mind."
