Singer Ariana Grande took to Twitter to admit she was "in tears" at the result.

The 'Break Free' hitmaker simply wrote on social media: "Well this is utterly terrifying. I am in tears."

'Captain America: Civil War' star Chris Evans also expressed his dismay at the result.

He wrote: "This is an embarrassing night for America. We've let a hatemonger lead our great nation. We've let a bully set our course. I'm devastated."

The 35-year-old actor has been open about his support for Hillary Clinton, taking to social media earlier on Tuesday (08.11.16) to pledge his support for the Democratic party candidate.

Alongside a picture of a sticker which read 'I voted', he wrote: "#ImWithHer #StrongerTogether (sic)"

He also retweeted a message from his uncle Mike Capuano, who is the US representative of Massachusetts' 7th congressional district and a member of the Democratic party.

Sharing Mike's tweet, which reads "I respectfully ask for your vote today and please cast a ballot for our Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton! #Vote2016 #ImWithHer (sic)", Chris added in his own message: "I couldn't have any more respect and love for this man. He would have had my vote even if he weren't my uncle."
