Sir Elton John kicked off this year's event in style with a powerful performance at his piano.

The 'Rocket Man' singer has his own radio show on Apple's Beats 1, and as well as showing off his biggest hits, he also showcased his eye for spotting talent as he invited some of the new artists he's discovered through his 'Rocket Radio' programme to join him on stage.

Rosie Lowe, Parker Millsap, Gallant and the already hugely popular Christine and the Queens all got the chance to treat the audience to one of their own songs, backed by Elton and his band, before lending their vocals to the iconic star's own biggest hits, including 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road', 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down on Me', 'Benny and the Jets' and 'Tiny Dancer'.

There was also plenty of time for Elton himself to take the spotlight and remind the audience of his impressive back catalogue, before he invited his guests back on stage for a rousing finale of 'Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting'.
