31 Mar 2007An online survey among more than 1,000 lone parents in the UK has shown that over three-quarters (77%) of respondents who have gone back to work say that working has made them feel more independent and 73% felt more confident. The research was commissioned by Jobcentre Plus and carried out by One Parent Families, the national charity for lone parents and their children.

30 Mar 2007As of the 1st of April the Work and Families Act will extend Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) from 26 weeks to 39 weeks. Abbey welcomes the increase as it believes it is important to provide working mothers with support to cope with the demands of family life.
