'The Omen' director John Moore says his horror remake was inspired by life after 9/11.Like the 1976 original, the movie - which sees Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles replace Gregory Peck and Lee Remick in the lead roles - still focuses on the birth of Damian, the son of the Devil. In an exclusive interview, Moore explained to BANG Showbiz: "We live in dark times. There is a lot of fear and we suggest that in the movie. Fear is promoted daily. "It's as if people want us to just lock ourselves in our houses and never come out again. It's terrifying. I'm sick and tired of the suspicion and brooding fear that seems to be everywhere."People need to examine their fear and then decide if they've had enough of being afraid. Only then can they liberate themselves from it."However, Moore promises fans of the original he hasn't ignored the previous movie - just adopted it.He revealed: "The film opens with a scene taking place in the Vatican whereby the council of Cardinals are telling the Pope that they have been monitoring the signs... the post 9/11 world, the natural disasters.

"Even though you've been told the fable there might be a metaphorical truth to them."

'The Omen' opens worldwide next Tuesday (06.06.06).
