Billie Joe Armstrong

Billie Joe Armstrong

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is considering launching a solo career - because he and bandmates often get "sick of each other".

The American Idiot hitmakers have been rocking for more than 20 years, and Armstrong admits working in close quarters with bandmates Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt is sometimes a strain.

He tells People magazine, "You get sick of each other sometimes, so you try to allow each other some space. Maybe someday I'll do a solo record."

Billie Joe is grooming his two sons to follow in his musical footsteps and the singer insists Joe, 14, and Jakob, 19, have inherited his talent and he enjoys regular jam sessions with the teens.

Armstrong tells People magazine, "My oldest son is getting to be a very good drummer and my youngest takes guitar lessons. We've got a jam room in my house."

He claims they are already so good, they're rejecting his advice and tuition: "I teach them a little, but then they're like, 'Shut up!' When someone else teaches them, they tend to listen more."
