America Ferrera's Wonder role

America Ferrera wants to be the next Wonder Woman.

The 'Ugly Betty' star - who plays hapless secretary Betty Suarez in the hit US TV show - thinks she is the perfect choice to don a spandex catsuit and play the superhero in the new comic book adaptation.

And it would be a very bold choice

She is quoted as saying: "I really want to do an action film. Maybe be a super hero - like Wonder Woman. I would love that. They all look so exciting - those action films like 'Batman' and 'Iron Man' and all those exciting roles. I would love to do that. But I don't know if that is going to happen."

Other stars who have expressed an interest in the role originally made famous by Lynda Carter include Gisele Bundchen, Jessica Biel and Beyonce Knowles, who recently said she wanted to be the first black incarnation of the role.

Beyonce explained: "I want to do that type of movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It's time for that, right?

"I love Wonder Woman and it'd be a dream come true to be that character."
