2007: Celebrity Losers of the Year

This year has been full of great new talent but we've also had plenty of drop outs too. The papers have been full of pics of celebs falling out of clubs and being packed off to rehab so Female First brings you our pick of the celebrity losers of the year.

Pete Doherty

Pete's drug habit has never been a secret and his turbulent life has been splashed all over the papers this year partly due to his high profile romance with disgraced model Kate Moss. The pair started of the year by checking into rehab together but Pete's habit was harder to kick than he realised and shortly after he left the centre he was arrested twice in one day for drugs related inccidents.Most of 2007 was a circle of rehab and court dates for the Babyshambles front man and eventually Kate reached the end of her tether and ditched him. This seemed to be the kick in the backside he needed when a new clean Pete emerged from rehab in October. Unfortunately he relapsed a few weeks later but- despite the late night visits to narcotics queen Amy Winehouse- he says he's determined to get back on the wagon.

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay seemed to go from teenage sweetheart to late night binger faster than you can say 'pour me another vodka' and this year she really hit rock bottom. In May she was arrested when she smashed her Mercedes into a kerb and police found a 'usable' amount of cocaine in the car. This resulted in Lindsay being admitted to rehab for the second time this year and coming out with a rather fetching ankle bracelet to monitor her bingeing antics.This didn't work and Lindsay was arrested again in July after a car chase and argument with her former PAs mother resulted in her being found to be over the legal drinking limit. The 21 year old was then sent packing back to rehab. A series of brief romances with Callum Best and fellow rehab inmate Riley Giles probably wasn't Lindsay's smartest move on her road to recovery but she seems to have quietened down over recent weeks. Let's hope she's finally sorted herself out.

Britney Spears

Where to start with the disaster that is Britney Spears' life. The former teen pop queen has had one hell of a year. First she flashes her bits for the world to see on a drunken night out, then she loses it completely and shaves her head in front of the paparazzi. Is there any wonder she's lost custody of her children?Britney barely seems to able to last a few days in rehab so we can't see an end to her troubles coming anytime soon. Despite a long court battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline which meant he gained custody of their two children, Brits still can't seem to kick her party habit.

Her much hyped come back performance at the VMAs was slated and her new single Gimme More hardly made an impact on the charts. We think Brits should make a new year's resolution to get her head sorted out so she can come back and give us a bit of that fun girly pop that she does best.

Loser of the Year: Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse started off the year as one of the UK's most promising young music stars but as 2008 approaches Miss Wine-O appears to be hitting rock bottom. Her suspected alcohol and drug addictions have seen her and fellow junky hubby Blake Fielder Civil in and out of rehab all year but their brief visits seem to have barely scratched the surface of their troubles.

The couple had everyone worried when they were pictured covered in blood and cuts after what looked like a drug fuelled scrap, then Blake was arrested and put into prison just days before Amy started her UK tour leaving her barely able to perform on her opening night. After much criticism and warnings from her doctor Amy cancelled the rest of this year's gigs in November.

While Blake looks forward to a Christmas in the nick Amy has just been released on bail for lying to the police to cover for him and is planning a festive blow out before having another attempt at rehab in the New Year....let's hope she sticks to her resolution!

Caz Moss- Female First
