Avril Lavigne has apologised for spitting at a paparazzi photographer.
The 'Complicated' singer lashed out twice while she was out on the town in Hollywood celebrating her 22nd birthday last week.
In a statement, Avril relented: "I'd like to sincerely apologize for my behaviour with the paparazzi.
"It's trying at best to deal with their insistent intrusions. I meant no offence to my fans, whose relationship I truly value. I have and will always go out of my way for my fans. My behaviour was a reaction to the persistent attack from the paparazzi."
The trouble started on Tuesday night (26.09.06) when Avril spat at a cameraman trying to film the Canadian star canoodling with her husband - Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley - in an SUV outside the Hyde nightclub.
The following night she was leaving the same club when she launched a tirade of abuse at photographers and autograph hunters, before flipping off onlookers as she was driven away.
Meanwhile, Avril recently revealed that "married life f***ing rocks" and that her new album - due out in early 2007 - will be less aggressive.
