Kendal Calling, England, July 29-30

The Kendal Calling, which takes place in Lowther Deer Park in the Lake District, was crowned Best Small Festival at the 2010 Festival Awards. In 2010 the Lake District welcomed Calvin Harris and Doves, so when the 2011 line up is announced it’s bound to be great. Tickets go on sale in early 2011.

T in the Park, Scotland, July 8-10

T in the Park takes place at Balado, Kinross-shire, Scotland. In 2010 the weekend festival was home to Muse, Eminem, Jay-Z and Madness among many others and Foo Fighters have recently been confirmed for this year. Christmas early bird tickets have already sold out but look out for normal tickets going on sale soon.

V Festival, England August 20-21

V Festival takes places over two days and on two different parks, Weston and Hylands, giving you the choice of which you’d prefer. Although no artists have been announced yet for 2011, if 2010 is anything to go by the line up will not disappoint. Kings of Leon, Cheryl Cole, Stereophonics , Faithless, Kasabian and The Prodigy were among last year’s star studded line up.

Leeds/Reading Festival, England, August 26-28

Leeds and Reading Festivals take place at the same time and play host to the same acts, just on different days, so whichever one you go to you won’t miss out. The festival saw Blink 182 reform in 2010 as well as providing a stage for Arcade Fire, The Libertines and Dizzee Rascal. As one of the UK’s most well known festivals the 2011 line up is guaranteed to be awesome.

Jersey Live, Jersey, September 3-4

Jersey Live is a two day event at The Royal Jersey Showground, Trinity, Jersey and is host to a whole range of artists. Chart topping acts such as Groove Armada, Biffy Clyro, Tinie Tampah and Professor Green will grace the main stage. Both weekend and single day early bird tickets are now on sale.

Bestival, Isle of Wight, September 8-11

Bestival takes place in Robin Hill Country Park near Newport, which is a beautiful woodland full of winding paths with surprises round every corner. In 2010 Bestival was named the ‘Best Major Festival’. The line up for 2011 has already been announced and includes The Cure, Katy B and Magnetic Man.

Oktoberfest, Germany, September 17- October 3

Oktober Fest, which celebrated its 200th year in 2010, lasts for an amazing 17 days, so you’ll have plenty of time to see everything. Located in Theresienwiese in the centre of Munich Oktoberfest attracts around 6.4 million visitors. Over the 2010 festival more than seven million mugs of beer were consumed.

Freeze Festival, England, October 28-30

Freeze Festival combines snowboarding, skiing and music, but not in some far off snowey destination, right here in England. London to be precise. In 2010 headline acts including Skindred, Hadouken and Pendulum DJs filled the Battersea Power Station with music. Tickets for this event are also available on the door, so you can even make a last minute decision to head down.

London Jazz Festival, England, November 11-20

The London Jazz Festival is the UK largest celebration of Jazz and attracts support from various organisations, charities and international government bodies, meaning that the festival grows year on year. In 2010 the festival managed to see 1,000 artists, playing 280 gigs in 68 venues, with a grand total of 600 hours of music. Not bad ey!

2 High Festival, Australia, November 12-13

If you fancy something different, how about a trip around the globe to Australia for your 2011 festival fix? 2 High Festival is the ultimate mixture of the arts with music, performance and exhibitions all in one place. The festival claims to be for young and emerging artists and cultural producers.

Festive Festival, England, December 19

Radio Ones Festive Festival is hosted by radio presenters such as Nick Grimshaw and Zane Lowe in 2010. The festival, which is broadcast live from the BBC’s famous Maida Vale Studios, will celebrate some of the brightest act of 2010 as well has giving you a look at those who are set to make in big in 2011.

Hogmanay, Scotland, December 30-January 2

The Edinburgh Hogmanay New Year Festival is a four day festival packed with a full schedule of events. This year’s musical entertainment in the form of Biffy Clyro and KT Tunstall among many others is not to be missed. Tickets are now on sale for all of the Hogmanay events including the Street Part, Concert in the Gardens and The Keilidh, which are all set beneath Edinburgh Castle, a beautiful place to be as you let in the New Year.
