Tony The Beat /Rex The Dog Disco Mix and new UK tour dates Digital release from 26th February 7” / 12” from 5th March (Korova)Rex The Dog has mixed The Sounds Tony The Beat. It was very good to start with and now it is literally the most amazing thing of all time. Popjustice.com 'Killer pop tracks' NME'She's an icon just waiting for the dust to settle before wrapping her clasps around every teenage heart in the land' Music WeekVoted one of the greatest songs of 2006 by Rolling Stones magazine, ‘Tony The Beat’ is an incredibly addictive, sexed up nu-disco treat from what will soon become your new favourite band – The Sounds. This punky new wave outfit sure knows how to make you a little hot under the collar. Their skin-tight, adrenaline spiked live shows are a true testament to this. Whilst the boys provide a solid sonic backdrop, blond, front woman Maja struts the stage like she owns it, climbs the drums, hangs off the speakers and flirts with old men and young girls alike. So if you’re yet to experience this band live, look no further. After playing four nights at a packed out Brixton Academy, warming up for Panic! At The Disco last October, The Sounds are returning to the UK for a string of Club NME headline dates before going on tour with Shiny Toy Guns and +44 in February.

Previously put out on limited 7”, ‘Tony The Beat’ is now getting a full commercial release on March 5th. Part of the package is a spiky remix from the bands close friend Rex The Dog which was initially only made for their own benefit. Though that was before tastemakers like Annie Mac and Rob Da Bank got their mitts on it. Now a remix video (featuring a monkey, a keyboard playing dog and a banana fight) is doing the rounds on mp3 blogs whilst uber-trendy London haunts like Boombox are spinning early advance copies to a totally up for it crowd.

‘Tony The Beat’ also features in a club scene in the Romantic Comedy ‘Music & Lyrics’ starring Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant. (on nationwide UK release from 9th Feb.) Mirroring the official video, where The Sounds are partying with DJ Steve Aoki’s at the super hot Misshapes club in NYC.

Hotly tipped as Ones To Watch for 2007 by tastemakers such as NME, Music Week and Popjustice, The Sounds second album “Dying To Say This To You” is finally getting a UK release in March.

Produced by Jeff Saltzman (the man behind Killers' "Hot Fuss"), with additional production from Scratchie Records co-owners James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins, A Perfect Circle) and Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne, Ivy) and mixer Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, Pixies, Hole), ‘Dying to Say This to You’ is jam packed with infectious hooks and choruses and has “radio smash” scribbled all over the front sleeve.

In just seven months The Sounds has amassed an incredible 4,000,000 plays on their myspace page proving that their relentless touring (over 210 gigs worldwide in 2006) has more than paid off. 2006 also saw The Sounds iconic lead singer Maja crowned as the top music heroine by Blender magazine and ‘Dying to Say This to You’ pick up a European MTV award nomination for best album.

The Sounds also featured heavily on the soundtracks for ‘Final Destination’ and ‘Snakes on a Plane'. On the latter, Maja formed part of the super group 'Cobra Starship' with Gym Class Heroes and The All American Rejects to deliver a No.1 promo video in the US and the official soundtrack to ‘Snakes on a Plane’.
