Mormon video star Brandon Flowers

Brandon Flowers has announced he is a ''father, husband, and a Mormon'' in a video to promote the Christian faith.

Brandon Flowers has taken part in a video promoting the Mormon Church.

The Killers singer - who has three children, Ammon, four, Gunner, two, and seven-month-old Henry, with wife Tana - has revealed he has never been tempted by the rock 'n' roll lifestyle thanks to his upbringing in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS Church).

In the promo, he says: "There are lots of connotations that come along with popular music or rock music, and it's usually very sex driven or money driven, and I realised early on that that wasn't the road for me.

"Maybe because of the foundations laid for me in my life by my mom taking me to church. I wanted to take a different road."

The 30-year-old musician also proudly confirms his faith in the video, saying: "My name is Brandon Flowers. I'm a father, I'm a husband, and I'm a Mormon."

Brandon also stresses how important family life is to him, revealing: "It's hard booking tours. I get in arguments every now and then with our booking agent if he puts us out on the road too long. I don't want to miss things."

The promotion is part of a campaign by the church to educate the American public about the Christian faith following an outpouring against the religion; with an opinion poll showing much of the public have negative opinions about Mormonism because of its historic links to polygamy - the practice of marrying more than one woman.

The LDS Church, which the vast majority of Mormons are part of, disavowed the practice of polygamy at the beginning of the 20th century, however, Mormon fundamentalists still practice polygamy.
