Brittany Murphy laid to rest in Hollywood cemetry

Actress Brittany Murphy, who last week died suddenly aged 32, was been buried at a private ceremony at a cemetery in the Hollywood hills.

The funeral was an intimate family affair attended by family and close friends  was according to a long time friend was "very nice, very respectful".

Murphy's husband, Simon Monjack, who she married in 2007, spoke at the service along with Murphys lifetime friend Alex Ben Block.

Murphy loved Christmas and that it was ironic that she was buried on Christmas Eve

The service was held on Thursday afternoon and continued into the evening and was presided over by both a Christian minister and a rabbi,

Later guests sang Amazing Grace at the grave site in the cemetery, where celebrities such as Liberace, Bette Davis, Lucille Ball, Gene Autry and Freddie Prinze are buried.

Mr Block said Murphy loved Christmas and that it was ironic that she was buried on Christmas Eve.

Ms Murphy died on Sunday after collapsing at her Hollywood Hills home.

Authorities continue to investigate the death though foul play isn't suspected.
