Prosecutors have played the beginning of an interview Dr. Conrad Murray gave to police two days after Michael Jackson's death in court today (07.10.11).

Jurors in the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray have heard the physician speak for the first time today (07.10.11).

Prosecutors played the beginnings of a two-hour interview the doctor - who is accused of the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson - gave to police on June 27, 2009, two days after the star's death from acute Propofol intoxication, during the testimony of Detective Scott Smith, who led the talks with the medic.

In the clip - the rest of which will be played when the court returns from a lunch break - Murray told the detective he had given Propofol to the 'Billie Jean' singer, but said he did not administer enough to cause death.

Much of the audio heard this morning centred on basic facts of their working relationship, with Murray stating he began seeing the King of Pop in 2006 because he was "not feeling well due to a family flu illness" that had also hit his three children.

The doctor also stated he was unaware whether his patient - who was preparing for a50-date London residency promoted by AEG Live when he died - was under the care of other medics and that his salary was not paid by the singer.

He explained: "I was of the opinion that he would be my employer directly. Subsequently to accepting that I realised that AEG would be the one paying for the salary that he requested.

"I am an employee of Michael Jackson but paid through AEG."

Murray denies involuntary manslaughter but faces up to four years in prison if found guilty.
