High School Musical star Zac Efron has turned down the chance to appear in a big-screen version of the made-for-TV hit, according to reports. The 19-year-old actor and his co-star girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens have allegedly been offered $1 million (£500,000) by Disney to sign up to the film adaptation, but are still in talks with movie producers.A source tells the New York gossip column PageSix, Disney are "only offering them $1 million each. Zac and Vanessa aren't going to do it".However a spokesperson for the studio insists, "We are still in negotiations with the entire cast, but we don't comment on the specifics of negotiations."High School Musical a television movie for Disney launched the career of Zac Efron who has become on of the biggest heart-throbs in America.Since appearing in the film he has gone on to star in Hairspray the big screen musical and adaptation of the hit Broadway show.A second High School Musical is soon to be aired in America with a third in the pipeline.
