Carrie Fisher slims to fit into Star Wars bikini

Carrie Fisher has lost 50lbs on the Jenny Craig diet but wants to keep slimming until she can fit into the metal bikini she wore as Princess Leia in 'Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi'.

The 54-year-old actress has lost the huge amount of weight on the Jenny Craig diet and she says her ultimate goal is to be able to get into the skimpy two-piece outfit her character Princess Leia was forced to wear by alien Jabba the Hutt in 'Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi'.

She told 'The Today Show' host Ann Curry: "I want to get into the metal bikini and just walk around the house like an idiot. Answer the doorbell, 'What is it? This old thing?' I'll come out with a line of metal bikinis for women over 40. If you want dignity, you wear metal bikinis over 40.

Carrie made the decision to slim down because she weighed "three million pounds" and was really unhappy with her figure.

She said: "I couldn't look in the mirror. I thought that was getting old. It turns out it was mostly getting fat."

The Hollywood star - who began the diet, which involves healthy meals being delivered directly to clients, in January - blames her weight gain on a lack of exercise and bad eating habits she picked up while on her one-woman stage tour 'Wishful Drinking' and she admits she would avoid going shopping because the stores didn't have "sizes large enough".

Carrie is now a spokesperson for Jenny Craig following her diet success.
