Chantelle Houghton wants to be a 'brilliant' mum

Chantelle Houghton and Alex Reid have revealed they want to be the best parents they can when their baby is born next year.

Chantelle Houghton and Alex Reid's New Year's resolutions are to be "brilliant parents".

The couple are expecting their first child in 2012 and Chantelle - who struggled with fertility issues - has revealed she cannot wait to become a mother.

Asked what her New Year's resolution is, Chantelle said: "To be brilliant parents!"

Alex added: "We're gonna be the best. I really can't wait to be a daddy."

The couple are busily preparing for the tot's arrival with Chantelle revealing she can't wait to find out the sex so she knows what baby clothes to buy.

She said: "I can't wait to buy more baby clothes! I want to know the sex of the baby so I can plan the wardrobe!"

Alex and Chantelle have had a rollercoaster year between getting engaged and finding out they are to become parents and they said 2011 has been full of highlights.

In a joint interview in Star magazine, Chantelle said: "Getting pregnant was my highlight! I didn't even think it was possible. It's made us stronger."

Alex added: "And getting engaged. I wasn't sure I wanted to go back into a high -profile relationship - but it was fate!"
