Chloe Sevigny once shaved her head to sell her hair to a wigmaker.The 'American Psycho' star and fashion icon flogged her locks for $500 when she was 17.The 31-year-old star said: "I shaved my head when I was 17 years old. I had really long hair down to my waist. I sold it for $500 to a famous Broadway wigmaker."Caucasian hair is rare in the wig trade, and my hair was blonde and had never been dyed. I probably could have gotten a lot more money for it. I should have gotten $1,000."Sevigny - who is currently starring in the critically acclaimed TV series 'Big Love', as the third wife of a polygamist - no longer needs to sell her hair to raise cash.The actress insists she would now demand extra cash to shave her hair for a role.She told America's New York Daily News newspaper: "If you have to shave your head, you get an extra pay cheque. But this time it would not be $500 - it would be $500,000."

However, Sevigny admits she would be reluctant to shave her hair off, like Natalie Portman did for her role in 'V For Vendetta', because she doesn't think being bald is a good look for women.

She said: "My mother and my brother were so thrilled when I had my hair shaved off because my hair had always been so greasy, and I always wore it in my face. They said I never looked better than when I had a shaved head. I would never do a buzz cut again though. But I would like to have a Mia Farrow-style short look for a movie."
