Liam Gallagher invited to Brits by Chris Evans

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has been invited to next week’s Brit Awards as a special guest of host Chris Evans.

The wild singer has struck up a close friendship with the TV presenter in recent weeks and Chris has asked him along to the lavish ceremony to spice up proceedings.

A source said: “Chris and Liam are becoming really good friends and have been out drinking together. . Chris has invited him as a personal guest.”

Organisers of the event are said to be delighted Liam - who scooped three prestigious Brits with his band in 1996 after being nominated for a record five gongs - has agreed to go along, because he is such a huge, and unpredictable, star.

An insider revealed: “Chris is bringing back some of the old school feel back to the awards and he’s attracting more of a fun element.”

The two friends have come a long way since Chris, who recently split from wife Billie Piper, last hosted the awards in 1996.

After collecting a prize, a clearly drunk Liam refused to leave the stage taunting Evans by saying: “It will take more than ginger b******s to throw us off stage.”
