Clive Owen's novel frustration

Clive Owen refuses to read the books which his moves are based on as they are often different and he finds it ''frustrating''.

Clive Owen finds it "frustrating" reading the books his movies are based on.

The British actor has a rule for himself that if he is starring in a film based on a novel, he won't read the original story as it may be radically different from the role he is working on.

He said: "I'm a great believer that once you start shooting you have to go with the script.

"If you are making a script based on a book it can be frustrating going back to the source novel, because you're turning the story into a totally different thing; the narrative of film is different from that of a book."

Clive's latest movie, 'Killer Elite', is based on the 1991 novel 'The Feather Men' but he insists there is only a loose link between the two.

He said: "This is one of those movies where when they say it's based on the book, it's meant in the broadest terms.

"It really is just taking the original premise - the original central storyline of gthose guys getting killed and a group of ex-SAS people trying to find out who is behind the killings."
