Tom Cruise admits he was ‘arrogant’ for criticising the use of anti-depressant drugs.

Cruise slated Brooke Shields for using the drugs to combat postpartum depression on U.S. breakfast show, Today, in June 2005.

His appearance on the show last Monday saw a reformed Cruise, as he said: "It's not what I had intended. I looked at myself and thought: that came across as arrogant. I learned a lesson".

He refrained from answering questions about a possible sibling for his daughter Suri, saying that wife Katie Holmes would be better to answer the question.

However, he did reveal that Holmes will be marking her 30th Birthday on stage this Thursday, as she stars in the Broadway production, All My Sons.

Cruise said: "We're going to go to the theatre, and hang out".

Cruise appeared on the Today show to promote his new film, Valkyrie, which is set during the Second World War. But he also took the time to collect toys from fans gathered outside the show's New York studio for a Christmas charity drive.
