Dustin Hoffman has always wondered why he never married Barbra Streisand.
The 71-year-old actor - who has four children with his wife Lisa Gottsegen - first met the 'The Way We Were' star in the 50s when the pair were starting out on their careers and admits he has often contemplated what life with the actress-and-singer would have been like.
He told Saga magazine: "When I started studying acting in New York, I was on what was called a work scholarship and the only other person on the work scholarship was Barbra Streisand.

"That's where we met and we never really became friends but years would pass and we'd bump into each other. Then finally, we were both cast in 'Meet The Fockers' in 2004 as a married couple.
"On the first day of shooting, I said to her, 'Why didn't you and I ever get married?' She just looked at me and without missing a beat, she said, 'Because we would have killed each other!' "
Hoffman recently revealed he has no plans to retire, even though he's been in showbusiness for over 50 years.
The 'Rain Man' star said: "At my age I take anything I can get. I never stop working and I never stop ageing!"
