Ellen DeGeneres and her partner Portia De Rossi have topped an online poll to find the most popular celebrity couple.

Fans of the talk show host and her actress wife flocked to Popeater.com to vote for the openly gay couple, handing them 31 per cent of the votes more than 25,000 votes.

Ellen host her talk show five days a week for an hour long and regularly chats to celebrities and gets to know the inner workings of their life.

The pair got married on August 18th in an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Angeles, they dated for four years previously.

The fought off music power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z who took second place, ahead of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who finished third.

Twilight sweethearts Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were included in the top five along with Tom Kat.
