And though my pal Capehart may be a serious-minded Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, that doesnt mean he couldnt have a Hollywood moment. Spotting Darryl Stephens, star of Logos Noahs Arc, Capehart asked if he wouldnt mind getting on the phone with a friend of his. Why? Because the friend has a big crush on the actor. Stephens happily obliged.Over on La Cienega Boulevard, Obamas fundraiser at Area nightclub reportedly attracted Ugly Bettys Eric Mabius, director Paris Barclay and producer Alan Poul, according to the Advocate.com.
Meanwhile it sounds like presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton was hoping for some Hollywood magic during her recent trip to Sin City.
We're told Clinton staffers had asked for a photo op with actor Samuel L. Jackson during the National Association of Black Journalists convention at Ballys Las Vegas hotel and casino. Apparently, however, it couldnt happen because of scheduling conflicts.
Clinton spoke to attendees yesterday, but Jackson won't arrive in Vegas until tomorrow for the closing-night festivities. He'll be introducing his new movie, Resurrecting the Champ, in which he stars as a homeless man discovered by a sports reporter (Josh Hartnett) to be a legendary prize fighter who was presumed dead.
Clinton could try again later this month: Resurrecting's L.A. premiere is Aug. 22.
We're sure she'd have no problem getting a ticket.
