Eminem has checked into a rehab clinic to overcome an addiction to sleeping pills.Just days after scrapping his European tour because of "exhaustion", the rapper has confessed he is seeking treatment for a drug problem.His record company Interscope confirmed: "Eminem is in the hospital under doctors' care. He is being treated for dependency on sleep medication."The star, real name Marshall Mathers, reportedly checked into the clinic in Brighton, Michigan, on Tuesday (16.08.05), accompanied by two bodyguards.An onlooker told America's Star magazine: "He looked really rough, weak and tired out."Eminem was due to kick of his ten-date Anger Management tour in Germany next month, but all shows have now been cancelled and the concerts will not be rescheduled.

A spokesman said on Tuesday (17.08.05): "Eminem is currently being treated for exhaustion, complicated by other medical issues." Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, recently slammed rumours he was planning to retire.

Speculation was sparked that the rapper would quit the music business after his tour after his D12 bandmate Proof claimed Eminem was ready to call it a day.

However, the 'Just Lose It' singer later insisted he was not retiring.

He said: "When I say I'm taking a break, I'm taking a break from my music to go in the studio and produce my other artists.
