Estelle says Britain doesn't know how to "market" black singers.

The 28-year-old 'American Boy' singer had to relocate to America in 2007 after losing her British record deal and admits she has serious concerns about the UK music industry.

She said: "Record labels don't know how to market me here. It's all about white soul singers. They said R'n'B doesn't cross over."

Estelle failed to live up to the promise of her 2004 debut single, '1980', which reached number 14 in the UK singles chart, causing her to lose her record deal, but the singer insists it wasn't her fault.

She said: "No one expected '1980' to do so well. I was a black artist doing hip-hop and for a moment that was cool... but no one knew what to do with me."

Following her move to the US, Estelle signed to American label Homeschool, for who she produced award-winning album 'Shine'.
