While Malibu was hopping with boldfaced names, Chicago was invaded by celebs this weekend for the Lollapalooza festivities.

Ashlee Simpson and her Fall Out Boy beau, Pete Wentz, shared kisses in the VIP room at Blender Sessions at the CKIN2U Music Lounge at the Hard Rock Hotel during the Polyphonic Spree gig. The two were also spotted having dinner on Saturday at China Grill. Simpson’s drink of choice? Johnny Walker Black with a splash of water.

Simpson’s ex Ryan Cabrera was also in the Windy City. He and his model girlfriend/granddaughter of Elvis Presley, Riley Keough, had dinner at Rockit Bar & Grill with the eatery’s owner, Billy Dec.

Hairspray hottie James Marsden hung out with actor bud Greg Bello at Chicago’s Martini Park. Their menu included salmon poppers, mac and cheese stix, sliders and satays.

Also in Chicago recently, but not for Lollapalooza, was Matthew Broderick. He and some friends had dinner at the bar at Le Colonial.

Now, back to Hollywood. Josh Duhamel and Fergie hit a Thursday performance of Wicked at the Pantages. I’m told they ducked out before the curtain call in order to avoid the mad rush of their fellow exiting...and presumably celeb-gawking...theatergoers.

Later that same night, I spotted Ashley Olsen applying some lip gloss in the lobby of the Chateau Marmont hotel after she stopped by the Lorac/Miss Davenporte Showstopper launch party. No biggie, except Olsen dropped the applicator, and she didn’t bother wiping it off before reapplying it.
