Gemma Arterton doesn't understand why people want to quiz her about her weight so often.
Gemma Arterton thinks it's wrong she is quizzed about her weight.
The 24-year-old actress - who is the main star in Stephen Frears' new comedy 'Tamara Drewe' - believes actresses should be allowed to be whatever size a character requires and is tired of constantly being scrutinised about her figure.
She said: "I don't know why there should be pressure for actors, because they should be able to play every type of person, but it is an issue.
"It's a load of rubbish, honestly. It's a weird position to be in, because as somebody who really takes acting seriously, this stuff is so trivial.
"No one would ever ask Judi Dench, 'Do you eat every day? Or, 'How does it feel to be a curvaceous woman?' But as young actresses, we get, it, and you just think, 'Eurgh.' "
The British beauty also revealed she hates going to red carpet events and more often than not she can't wait to return to her London home.
She added in an interview with The Guardian newspaper: "I used to think, 'Oh yeah, it would be good to go on the red carpet and be photographed.'
"Now, when those events come up, I think, 'Oh my God! I can't wait to get home.' "
