George Clooney has dismissed claims he is going to run for office. The Oscar winner - who was attending an event where his 'Batman and Robin' co-star turned California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was signing new legislation aimed at stopping genocide in Darfur - shrugged off questions about his own political aspirations.Shaking his head, he said: "Believe me, you don't want me in politics."When asked if he would try to get his name put forward as a candidate, Clooney replied: "That's a bad idea. He's gone on to be governor, and I still think I'm Batman."The 'Syriana' star even dismissed a group of fans wearing T-shirts urging him to run for office as "probably kidding."Clooney recently called on the United Nations to help stop the war in Darfur. The 'Ocean's Thirteen' actor - who has visited the war torn region several times - joined Nobel Prize winner Elie Wiesel in New York to appeal to the UN Security Council to help the region.

He said: "The United States has called it genocide. For you it's called ethnic cleansing. But make no mistake, it is the first genocide of the 21st century. And if it continues unchecked, it will not be the last."
