Geri Halliwell is to design her own range of evening dresses.

The former Spice Girl follows in the footsteps of bandmate Victoria Beckham who has great success since the launch of her own collection - which she showcases in New York Fashion Week.

Halliwell will be creating a range of dresses for high street store Next, which will be released later this year. This follows from the demand of her holiday collection that she helped design for the store.

She tells the Sunday Mirror: "I've been sketching everything myself. I'm thrilled with the results. The dresses are not stupidly expensive but they are elegant and beautiful."

Beckham is due to give birth to her fourth child sometime this week, she has recently released images of her new diffusion line, Victoria. The line of dresses is said to be her most feminine yet and sells at a cheaper price than her Ready-to-wear collection.
