Guy Ritchie is set to remake 'Guys and Dolls'.
The 'Sherlock Holmes' director has flown to Hollywood for a series of meetings about turning the successful musical and 1955 movie, which is about two small-time gamblers in New York, into a modern-day blockbuster.
A source said: "Guy has been on the case with the idea of making a musical recently. He has had a lot of meetings with top studio bosses about other projects but the 'Guys and Dolls' idea really tickled him."
After the success of the iconic original film - which starred Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra and Jean Simmons - Guy plans to adapt the storyline and set the story in London.
The source explained to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "He is torn between keeping the script true to the original in New York and taking it to familiar surroundings in London."

Before being offered the 'Guys and Dolls' remake, the 40-year-old director and his actor friend Jason Statham - who Guy cast in 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', 'Snatch' and 'Revolver' - had been discussing plans to write their own musical.
A source said: "He has been throwing ideas around with Jason Statham about writing their own musical. They were joking that it would be a cross between 'Worzel Gummidge' and 'Bullitt'."
Meanwhile, Guy - who split from his wife of eight years, Madonna last year - has been photographed snuggling up to a mystery blonde during his visit to the US.
