Heath Ledger Died of Accidental Overdose

Medical examiners have confirmed this afternoon that actor Heath Ledger died of an accidental overdose of prescription medication.The actor was found dead at his Manhattan home on 23 January surrounded by prescription drugs and a spokeswoman for the medical examiner said that he had died 'as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects' of several different drugs.The autopsy that was carried out the day after he died was inconclusive and further toxicology tests were required to determine cause of death.Michelle Williams, Ledger's former fiance, arrived in Perth today with the couple's two year old daughter Matilda to attend his funeral.He is expected to be laid to rest in a family plot at Karrakatta cemetery in Perth.Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Sienna Miller, Ellen DeGeneres and director Todd Haynes were some of the stars that attended the memorial service held for the actor in Los Angeles. Another service took place in New York were almost 1,000 mourners attended.The actor was in the UK at the time of his death on Terry Gilliam's new movie The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus when he died - he was twenty eight years old.
