Jack Black hosts MTV awards

Jack Black is to host this year's MTV Music Video Awards.The comic actor was announced as the presenter of this year's ceremony yesterday (10.08.06) and has promised fans a great show.Black, who is currently starring in wrestling comedy 'Nacho Libre', said: "Prepare yourself for a rip snortin' humdinger!"The prestigious event will be aired live from New York's City Music Hall on August 31 and will feature performances from a galaxy of music stars.Among the artists confirmed to play live at the ceremony, include Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, The Killers and Jack White's new band The Raconteurs.Shakira and the Red Hot Chili Peppers lead the nominations with a whopping seven each.Among the prizes the two acts are up for is the highly coveted Video of the Year award, along with Madonna, Christina Aguilera, and Panic! At The Disco.
