Jade Ewen says meeting her Sugababes bandmates was like going on a blind date.

The 21-year-old star - who replaced the group's last remaining founding member Keisha Buchanan last month - was "nervous and over-polite" when she was introduced to Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah.

She explained: "It was nuts! The Sugababes manager turned up at 5am and screamed through my letterbox, 'Jade, you've got to get on a plane to Los Angeles but I can't tell you all the details yet'.

"She had a plane ticket, so I went straight to the airport and flew to LA. When I finally met Heidi and Amelle it was like a blind date.

"We were all nervous and a bit over-polite. I met them on the Sunday and we shot a video on Tuesday!"

When it comes to real-life dating, Jade admits she is woefully inexperienced.

She said: "I've never been on a proper date because I've always hated the idea of it - especially when you have to try and make conversation!

"I'd like to be on a date where I don't realise what's happening, so I'm just having fun. I don't want a big effort."
