James Marsden's wife Lisa Linde has filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

The 'X-Men' actor's spouse Lisa Linde cited irreconcilable differences in papers filed in court a week ago, and stated she is seeking spousal support and joint legal and physical custody of their two children, Jack,10, and six-year-old Mary.

A spokesperson for the 38-year-old actor told Us Weekly magazine: "This was a mutual decision. They are committed to raising their kids together and remain great friends."

James - who married Lisa in 2000 - has previously spoken of how much he enjoys being at home with his children.

Asked for the secret of his happy marriage, the '27 Dresses' actor has said: "It's always been about being together and keeping the family together.

"When I'm not working, I want to be home, and that's all I want to do."

James - whose co-stars in the past have included Katie Holmes, Kate Hudson and Katherine Heigl - has also previously said his wife would be more keen for him to bare all on screen than he would be.

He said: "I don't know how I would react if I was offered a part with a sex scene. My wife would tell me to do it, though. She wants people to see how sexy I am!"
