Jamie Lynn Spears' boyfriend is improving in hospital.
Casey Aldridge - the father of Jamie's 10-month-old daughter Maddie - will not need surgery for a head injury following a serious car crash on Sunday (26.04.09) and is due to come out of the intensive care unit in the next few days.
A source said: "They said it was borderline whether he needed surgery or not, but they've taken some scans and see no further damage.
"Jamie Lynn has been at the hospital, and all indications are that she is holding up well."
His uncle Odus Jackson also revealed Casey is alert and doing well.
He explained: "There was just a little swelling, but he's alert. They're keeping him under precaution for a couple of days to make sure that no bleeding starts, but at the moment he's resting well and doing well
"He's been talking, and they were keeping him awake as much as possible. It looks like he's probably over the danger. I think they are about to keep him under observation for about three days. Doctors are telling him that he should recover to full normalcy. It'll just take time for it all to heal up - the brain."
Casey has been charged for careless operation of a motor vehicle after he crashed his car after his cousin's bachelor party.

The 19 year old drove to Lake Bruin in Tensas Parish, Louisiana, after he and four friends decided to go crabbing.
Three of the passengers were thrown from his 2008 Ford F-250 after he reportedly lost control.
The vehicle turned over several times and it has been claimed only one of the passengers was wearing a seatbelt.
Casey was rushed to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a fractured skull and Jamie Lynn accompanied him in the ambulance.
Louisiana State Police spokesman Mark Dennis says the Casey and his passengers were lucky to be alive.
He explained: "It's an anomaly that no one was injured more seriously. Usually in that kind of accident, you see serious injuries or fatalities."
A family friend said: "There had to be angels all around them."
