MTV will recast 'Jersey Shore' after next season.
The reality TV show - focusing on a group of hard partying Italian-Americans in New Jersey - will feature an entirely new cast from season six onwards because the current housemates, who include Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino, Paul 'Pauly D' DelVecchio and Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi, are too expensive to use.
They are rumoured to be commanding $100,000 per episode, and MTV has decided to completely overhaul the series.
A source Us Weekly magazine: "After this group comes back from filming season four in Italy and shoots season five this summer, that will be the end for them. They will leave on a high note!"
However, three of the show's stars have already lined up their own spin-off programmes.
Snooki is to appear in a new MTV reality series with JWoww which will follow the pair dealing with "love and life" over 12 episodes while Pauly D is going to be followed by cameras as he attempts to establish himself as a DJ.
The 29-year-old star's 12-episode reality show will depict his "jet-setting and often hilarious life on the road as one of the country's most in-demand DJs".
David Janollari, MTV Head of Programming, said: "We're excited to put the spotlight on their lives away from the shore as they pursue their individual passions, careers and relationships. Both series are fun, fresh ways for us to evolve what is an already successful brand for us.
"As we continue to reinforce our position as the entertainment destination for the Millennial generation, these two shows fit perfectly into that overall strategy, and we're thrilled to add them to our diverse line-up."
Both series will air on the network in 2012.
