Jessica Simpson has paid tribute to her beloved dog a year after she died.

The star was given Maltipoo Daisy Mae on her 24th birthday by her ex-husband Nick Lachey. She was very close to the pooch and regularly updated her fans on the funny things she did.

In September last year, Daisy Mae was snatched by a coyote as Jessica, 30, looked on. The star was devastated, posting heartfelt messages on her Twitter page asking for people to look out for the dog. She also created posters to raise awareness, and offered a reward for Daisy Mae’s safe return.

Jessica eventually accepted her pet had been killed, and took time to remember her on the anniversary of her death yesterday. "This day last year my life changed because I lost my baby Daisy Mae- the best pup of all time...give your dog some extra love today (sic)!!" she wrote on Twitter.

She also drew attention to a message written by another user of the social networking website, understood to have been close to the dog. "RT @mcstephyblanche: Today, pay tribute to sweet Daisy Mae by chasing a squirrel & eating some chicken! I miss her & love her so very much (sic)!" Jessica copied onto her page.
