Jon Bon Jovi is terrified of his wife.

The rocker has joked his marriage to Dorothea Hurley has survived for almost two decades because he lives in fear of upsetting his spouse.

When asked about the secret to a successful marriage, Jon replied: "Let's get that right here, right now. I'm afraid of my wife."

Jon, who celebrates his 20th wedding anniversary next week (29.04.09), insists he is happier than ever with Dorothea and the couple make every effort to remain out of the public spotlight.

He said: "Best investment I ever made. Trust me she is the best. I am very happy."

Jon secretly married his high school sweetheart Dorothea on April 29 1989 at Las Vegas' Graceland Wedding Chapel.

The couple have four children together - 15-year-old Stephanie Rose, 13-year-old Jesse James, Jacob Hurley, six, and five-year-old Romeo Jon.
