Julia Roberts had to undergo an emergency Caesarean section to deliver her twins.
Doctors decided to operate on the actress, who was ordered to stay in bed for a month when her contractions started two months early, even though the babies weren't due until January.
People magazine's Peter Casto revealed: "It was an unusual time for the operation. I don't know if the babies were in trouble, but they are fine
now.
"Julia and the tots are due home in a few days."
The beautiful star, who is married to cameraman Danny Moder, named her new son and daughter Phinneaus Walter and Hazel Patricia.
It has now been revealed that the twins' middle names come from their late
grandparents - Julia's father, Walter, died in 1977 and Danny's mother,
Patricia, died in 2001.
During her pregnancy, the 'Pretty Woman' star - who underwent in vitro fertilisation when she couldn't conceive naturally - bragged that she didn't suffer from morning sickness.
She said at the time: "I've heard horror stories about people who have a sip of water and then throw up for four hours. But I come from hardy stock.
I'm Southern. That must have something to do with it."
