Kate Beckinsale was turned down for the lead role in 'The Ring' because studio bosses said she "didn't look like a mother."The 'Pearl Harbour' beauty has a seven-year-old daughter Lily but the role was given to 'King Kong' star Naomi Watts instead.Kate, 33, said: "They asked me to do 'The Ring' then took it back, saying I didn't look like a mother when, of course, I am a mum with a child and Naomi Watts isn't."Kate wowed fans in London last night (27.09.06) - as she graced the red carpet looking stunning in a red dress - at the premier of her latest film 'Click' a romantic comedy in which she plays Adam Sandler's wife.The 'Underworld' star, who is married to director Len Wiseman, said she loved working with Sandler and was sad when their 'marriage' came to an end.Kate is quoted by Scotland's Daily Record newspaper as saying: "It was a blissful marriage and I was really kind of sad when it was over. My daughter has decided he's a relative."British actor Michael Sheen, who plays British prime minister Tony Blair in new box office hit 'The Queen' is the father of Kate's daughter Lily and they are still very close.
Kate said: "I spent almost 10 years of my live with Michael and value his friendship and the fact he's Lily's dad.
"She feels very lucky to have two dads and a bit sorry for anybody who has only got one. That's something I've worked very hard on with Michael and Len."
